What is Cryotherapy?

Whole Body Cryotherapy was developed in Japan by Dr. Toshima Yamaguchi in 1978 to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Within several years, the medical community recognized WBC’s benefits beyond treating arthritis and began using WBC more broadly to treat soft tissue pain, inflammation, fibromyalgia, psoriasis, increase metabolism, and to revitalize skin.

Unlike when you go outside on a cold day, WBC is a dry process. Because dry cold does not penetrate the body like cold air with moisture, WBC temperatures are able to be much colder than what would be possible on a normal winter day without discomfort.

WBC is much safer, healthier, and effective than a traditional ice bath. WBC is the process of exposing the body to hyper cooled air -200F to -240F, triggering the body’s natural healing mechanisms as though it were freezing. Blood will accumulate in the body’s core in order to become warmed, and your capillaries will expand to approximately 4 times their normal diameter. White blood cells will flow through your body faster, accelerating the healing process by up to 50%. Your brain will trigger a release of endorphins, adrenaline, and other hormones into your body. During this 2-3 minute process, the brain stimulates the body’s organ regulatory functions resulting in increased energy, cell rejuvenation, immune system boost, and overall system self healing.

WBC purifies the blood, increases the body’s nutrient flow, and removes toxins from the system. By increasing the rate at which purified blood circulates through the body, the rate at which soft tissues and joints can heal is maximized.
